Garden Goddess

This is our Garden Godess, Ashley Wagoner. She lives in Seattle, Washington, but she grew up in my neighborhood here in Winston-Salem, so a piece of her heart is here. Now a piece of her talent is here as well. Not only did she design the garden for us, but she rented the tractor and tilled the garden, got several donations for us and and made me work til 8 every night while she was here. Love Ya Ashley. We get so many complements every day, especially from the kids.

Mr. Kevin and the 5th Grade YMCA save the day!

We only had one parent show up for the first workday, but with the help of Kevin Pichardo and his YMCA after school class, we were able to get several plants in the ground.

Ground Breaking on the Japanese Garden!

Ashley shares her vision with big brother, Brandt.(left to right: Brant Deal, Ashley Wagoner, Wayne Uhrig)

Ashley tills the ground to get ready for the rocks and plants.

Everyone is excited about the garden. The students thought it was really neat to see a GIRL on a tractor! The students on the playground were eager to pose with Mrs. Wagoner for this photo.
